My very dear friend Rena told me this story a few months back about a friend and co-worker who met the love of his life on a plane only to let her slip away and re-find her through “missed connections,” on Craig’s list. I had chills up and down my body as I listened to her tell in great detail about Dan and Amy and how they met.

Dan was on a flight back to Chicago and had gotten up to go to the bathroom only to be met by a line. Of course, Amy was waiting too and while they were waiting to use the bathroom they struck up a conversation as they waited. But the kicker was, upon leaving the bathrooms respectively, the food cart was in the aisle and they were forced to talk for a long period of time. As the God of love would have it, something magical happened and there was a click for Dan.

When the stewardesses finished up handing out food and drinks, they both reluctantly returned to their seats without exchanging information. Dan really wanted to give her his card but was very nervous. He wrote his number on the back of his business card and promised himself that if she happened to be waiting when they got off the plane he would summon the courage to pass his information on to her. Well there she was and he chickened out and went home heavy hearted as left him forever as she went onto Boston.

Well, as it would turn out, Dan went out with his friends that night and told them about this girl that he met on the plane and how he knew she was special and he wussed out at prime time. So, after a few drinks they came up with a solution, post on Craig’s list a letter under “missed connections.” Of course, he was a bit intoxicated and said. “what the hell I will do it!” Well he did it. At the same time Amy told her friends about Dan and they told her to do the same and while she was looking through Craig’s List missed connections, she was completely taken aback to see a post with her name, flight number and a letter from him. To make a long story short…..six months later, they are engaged and their story made it on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

God does have his hand in so many things. How else do you explain something like this? I personally stopped believing in this type of magic, but apparently it still is working for millions of people in the world!
