Up until recently, I didn’t realize I was a Sex and the City virgin. I never got into the show and never had the desire to watch it or go over to a friend’s house for a Sex and the City party. Ohh, I am so yesterday! When the show first came out, I remember all my girlfriends talking about it, and the hype that was built around it and seeing the previews. I remember telling myself that I didn't want to be one of "those girls" and refused to watch it. I didn't want to identify with a bunch of "sluts" who changed men like they did underwear.....I guess I didn't have much of a sense of humor or feared my own dating experience to be too similar..........until about two weeks ago.

Kate and Laura, my web development team, went out and bought me the entire collection in a beautiful pink velvet box. I have locked myself in my condo and am watching them one by one. Most of the time I am laughing my ass off, like when Charlotte breaks down and buys the infamous "rabbit" and doesn't come out of her house for a week and they have a "rabbit intervention." Or, the time when Carrie farts while lying in bed with Mr. Big, or Samantha dating the guy with the small penis. Haven’t we all been in these situations at one time or the other? Sometimes, while I am laughing, I realize the sadness in the humor. The show is incredibly honest about the dating world of today.

I can say that I definitely relate to most of these thirty minute episodes. So much so, that I am considering getting my own rabbit for Christmas. I have had this conversation many of times with many girlfriends and like Charlotte and Carrie; I have always been the one to protest with the exact same arguments. If Charlotte was willing to put her skepticism aside and found the experience exhilarating........well now, I am just plain curious. If this works better than a man.........and uh, well, unless he is my Mr. Big, what the heck do I need him for? Oops did I say that. I have to admit I am tired of trying to figure it all out. I just would like the pleasure without the pain. That is the question I have been pondering the most. My new question isn't- how many assholes do you have to sleep with until you find your Mr. Big? More appropriately it has become...........how many assholes do YOU WANT to sleep with until you find him? Why do that when you could just get "Mr. rabbit?" Forget about Mr. Right, I am trading him in for Mr. Rabbit. It is safer, all you have to worry about is your own happy ending, no faking of orgasms, convenient on your time, you don't have to worry about hurting his feelings, it works every time, you know it won't call the next day so there is no false expectations............hmmmmmm, I think they are all on to something.

One thing is for sure, I have fallen in love with each character. I can relate to each one in a different way. One thing I enjoy the most about them is their friendship and how much they really enjoy each other and rely on each other. In this day and age it is hard to find good female friends. I feel lucky enough to have such a group myself and our conversations are just as curious and interesting.
