A few months ago I wrote a blog about the doggie spas and resorts in L.A. I seriously thought it couldn't get worse than that. Oh how I spoke too soon. I was watching t.v. tonight and despite thinking I was watching a Saturday Night Live episode, realized I was watching Nightly News.

There was a piece on a new "pet trend" called "Doga." It is a fusion of dog and yoga, and yes it actually consists of people and their dogs doing yoga together. I can't really explain how ridiculous these people looked as they held their doggies up in the air with their feet (like how my dad used to do when we'd play "airplane" when I was a kid). S E R I O U S L Y ? ? ? ? I just didn't think it could get any more absurd...but it did. The Doga instructor that was being interviewed emphasized the importance of chanting.

"Doga doga doga doga dahhhhg, doga doga doga doga dahhhhhg."

"Because chanting is one of the most important parts of Doga," says crazy Doga instructor lady.

Out of all this, I reached the point of saturation when the "journalist" covering this story traveled to a Doga apparel store. Yes, they have doggy yoga OUTFITS for the dogs.

Is it me or is this pure, unadulterated insanity?
